Life in LA, part 2
A lot of comics dream of moving to LA to become the next star. They think that in between meetings with the networks they'll stop over and do shows at the Improv, the Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store, not too mention all the hip bars and restaurants in the alternative scene! LA is where one gets discovered, LA is where Kosta gets discovered.
How silly I was. Granted I have only been here for a few weeks, but getting quality stage time in LA is harder than getting a hot mom's phone number at her son's funeral.
Below you will find two shots of the audience during one of my performances. This first shot was one block off the beach in Venice and was in support of the "Impeach Bush" foundation (look for the "Stop Bush" push cart). We were asked not to do jokes about the homeless because... many of them were in the audience. Despite all this, Andy Kindler was the headliner and he was hilarious.

In this photo you can find a comic, a booker, a woman with a dog, an Italian man in a sailors hat (who didn't speak english), a homeless person, and a few other "normal" people.

Here at the Cat Club on Sunset Blvd. I Count five comics and five audience members (and they were actually with the band, who played afterwards)
Conclusion:
Don't move to LA if you expect quality stage time and a half actress half model girlfriend. Move to LA if you want to pitch a show, act, host, meet other comics who are in the same boat as you or if you simply love cocaine (check).
NOTES:
- I'll be headlining The Improv in Irvine September 11th. Not exactly the best day to be celebrating, but I promise to do some jokes about how stupid terrorists are. Honestly, it would be nice to get a big crowd for this one so they'll bring me back for a full weekend. Click HERE for reservations.
- I can't discuss details, but I've had a couple of good meetings with MTV and we are waiting to hear from the decision makers. I love MTV, everyone watch MTV, everyone buy the products that advertise on MTV.
- Don't forget I'll be at the San Francisco Punchline with John Heffron September 12-15. This is going to be an awesome week of shows.
